Power Quality Improvement Project

Ibadan, Nigeria/Completed 2021/Manufacturing Plant
Project photography

Project overview

A manufacturing plant was experiencing frequent equipment malfunctions and failures due to poor power quality. We conducted a comprehensive power quality audit and implemented corrective measures.

The project included harmonic filter installation, power factor correction, and voltage regulation to stabilize the power supply and protect sensitive equipment.

The challenge

The plant's power quality issues were causing an average of 4 hours of unplanned downtime per month, with significant production losses.

02

Our approach

We installed active harmonic filters and power factor correction capacitors, and replaced an aging voltage regulator with a modern automatic voltage stabilizer.

Outcomes

What the project achieved

01Eliminated unplanned downtime caused by power quality
02Reduced total harmonic distortion from 18% to 4%
03Improved power factor from 0.72 to 0.96
04Extended equipment life by eliminating voltage transients
